On April 28, 2023, the Stainless Steel Branch of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association released statistics on China's crude stainless steel production, import and export, and apparent consumption in the first quarter of 2023 as follows:

1. The output growth of stainless steel crude steel:
In the first quarter of 2023, the national crude stainless steel output was 8.2732 million tons, an increase of 326,500 tons or 4.11% year-on-year. in:
The output of Cr-Ni series stainless steel was 4.1719 million tons, an increase of 135,600 tons or 3.36%, and its share decreased by 0.37 percentage points year-on-year to 50.43%;
The output of Cr-Mn series stainless steel was 2.4916 million tons, an increase of 178,100 tons, an increase of 7.70%, and its share increased by 1 percentage point year-on-year to 30.12%;
The output of Cr-based stainless steel was 1.5402 million tons, which was flat year-on-year, and its share decreased by 0.74 percentage points year-on-year to 18.62%;
Duplex stainless steel was 69,416 tons, an increase of 10,641 tons year-on-year, an increase of 18.10%.

2. The import and export volume of stainless steel decreased:
In the first quarter of 2023, the country imported 460,900 tons of stainless steel, a year-on-year decrease of 483,900 tons or 51.22%; the country exported 967,200 tons of stainless steel, a year-on-year decrease of 94,900 tons or 8.94%.

3. The apparent consumption of stainless steel is slightly reduced:
The apparent consumption of stainless steel in the first quarter of 2023 was 6.9736 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 67,900 tons or 0.96%.
